In a bid to stabilize the supply of drugs and medicines in Zambia, a series of meetings have been held between the Ministry of Health, the Zambia High Commission in India, and Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
The immediate objective of the Zambian Government in the short term is to find a long-lasting solution to drug shortages by engaging a major supplier(s) with the long term objective of having a pharmaceutical company setting up a manufacturing plant in Zambia.
Recently, the High Commissioner, H.E Mr. Percy P. Chanda and the Counsellor (Health) Prof. Victor Mukonka, held a series of meetings with Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd top management in Ranipur to conclude some of the issues that have been brought out during previous meetings.
The High Commissioner also toured some of the company’s facilities in the area. Engagements continue.
