A delegation of Master’s and Ph.D. students from the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya High Commission recently. The visit was part of an academic and diplomatic outreach initiative aimed at fostering international engagement and mutual understanding between Indian scholars and African diplomatic missions.

The student delegation had the honor of meeting His Excellency Mr. Peter Munyiri, High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to India. Also present during the interaction were Ambassador Mary Mutuku, Deputy Head of Mission, along with the Defense Attaché and Education Attaché of the High Commission.

During the meeting, the students engaged in meaningful discussions with the diplomats on a wide range of topics, including Kenya–India bilateral relations, regional dynamics in East Africa, educational exchange programs, and opportunities for academic collaboration. Ambassador Munyiri shared insightful perspectives on Kenya’s foreign policy priorities, the strategic importance of India–Kenya relations, and the role of youth and education in fostering diplomacy and development.

Ambassador Mutuku highlighted ongoing initiatives by the Kenyan government to strengthen educational ties with Indian institutions and encouraged students to explore opportunities for research, internships, and academic exchanges in Kenya. The Defense and Education Attachés provided additional information on areas of cooperation and invited further academic engagement from JNU scholars.

The visit concluded with a group photo and an expression of gratitude by the JNU students for the warm hospitality and enlightening dialogue. The event reinforced the importance of academic diplomacy and people-to-people connections in international relations.
