A delegation of medical staff from Muhimbili National Hospital, Dar es Salaam, visited the Tanzania High Commission in New Delhi to discuss their experience in a 3-month attachment program at BLK-Max Hospital, New Delhi. The delegation, consisting of 9 nurses and one radiography technician, has had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a diverse range of medical technologies and methodologies, enhancing their professional capabilities and equipping them with practical skills and advanced knowledge.
H. E. Ambassador Anisa Mbega, the High Commissioner of Tanzania in India highlighted the importance of such exchange programs in strengthening bilateral relations between Tanzania and India, particularly in the healthcare sector. The program, expected to conclude in April 2024, is a testament to the ongoing efforts to enhance the professional skills of Tanzanian healthcare workers through rich knowledge and experience exchange.
Dr. Kheri Goloka, Medical Attaché of the Tanzania High Commission, also underscored the significance of such attachment programs for healthcare workers in Tanzania. He noted that these programs offer essential exposure and significantly bolster their professional capabilities by equipping them with practical skills and advanced knowledge in the medical field.
The collaboration between Tanzania and India was further solidified during Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visit to India in October 2023, when the Ministry of Health Tanzania and Max Healthcare Institute Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focusing on capacity building. The attachment program at BLK-Max Hospital is a significant milestone in improving healthcare services through international collaborations, aiming to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and services in Tanzania and beyond.
