New Delhi, April 23, 2026: In a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, today accepted credentials from newly appointed envoys representing several countries, marking a continued strengthening of India’s diplomatic engagements across Africa.
Among those who presented their credentials were H.E. Mrs Emilie Ayaza Mushobekwa, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo; H.E. Wing Commander Alex Lunyazo Tukuhupwele (Retd.), High Commissioner of the Namibia; and H.E. Mr Antonio Serifo Embalo, Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau.

The credential presentation ceremony is a key diplomatic protocol that formally recognises ambassadors and high commissioners as official representatives of their respective nations in India, enabling them to carry forward bilateral engagements.
The development also comes in the backdrop of the upcoming India–Africa Forum Summit 2026, which is expected to serve as a major platform to revitalise ties between India and African countries after a prolonged gap. The summit is likely to focus on areas such as economic cooperation, healthcare, digital governance, and people-to-people connections.
Diplomatic observers note that such engagements at the highest level signal India’s intent to reinforce its partnerships with African nations and build momentum ahead of the summit, which is anticipated to shape the next phase of India–Africa collaboration.
